The much anticipated The Sebel Yarrawonga located in the picturesque Murray River region adjacent to Silverwoods Golf and Lifestyle Resort, is set to open its doors to customers and guests on 1 November 2020, following the recent relaxation of restrictions for regional Victoria.
The multi-million dollar development will set a new benchmark in accommodation, dining, conference and events facilities for the Murray River region.
“We can’t wait to welcome our first customers and guests through to experience The Sebel Yarrawonga – it has been a challenging year but we are finally ready to see the hotel buzzing with locals and regional travellers and eventually, guests from Melbourne and interstate,” says General Manager, Rebecca Russell.
Rebecca was appointed General Manager of The Sebel Yarrawonga following a stellar career spanning six years with Accor Hotels. She was earmarked for the group’s leadership program in 2014 and since then has worked across the Accor network managing hotels and resorts in North Queensland, Sydney, Alice Springs and regional NSW before being appointed to manage the Accor-branded The Sebel Yarrawonga.
Situated an hours’ drive from Albury town centre, a three hour drive from Melbourne and five hours from Sydney, The Sebel Yarrawonga, will offer 63 stylishly appointed studios rooms and apartments, with a further 54 rooms expected in stage 2 of the development later in 2022/2023. It will initially open two of its three food and beverage venues – Stock & Barrel bar and casual dining and Sunset Pool Bar – with Elizabeth’s fine dining restaurant and functions set to open in December.
“The restrictions have made it a little more difficult to recruit the team at the moment. Initially, customers and guests can enjoy gatherings at Stock & Barrel and the Sunset Bar until Elizabeth’s is open for business. We will, of course, be compliant to any restrictions in place for the safety of guests and staff,” said Russell.
Overlooking Lake Mulwala, on the Murray River, The Sebel Yarrawonga will bring a new prestige level of accommodation and venues for weddings, meetings and events. Situated next to Black Bull 18 hole Championship Golf Course, highly regarded as the number one golf course on the Murray and ranked 68 in the top 100 courses in Australia by Golfers Digest, it was also the last golf course designed and completed by the late Peter Thomson, one of Australia’s most revered golfing legends.

Melbourne based development company, Lotus Living, are behind the hotel development which is situated within the Silverwoods Golf and Lifestyle Resort – another Lotus Living development.

The Sebel Yarrawonga will generate over 60 jobs in addition to an estimated flow on employment of over 500 jobs for suppliers across the region, following its initial opening phase of the development. An injection of over 96,000 visitors per annum and around $14 million to the Murray region’s visitor economy is also expected once the resort is fully operational.
Lake Mulwala is a popular destination for water skiing in the summer months and the surrounding region offers an abundance of natural produce and a variety of wineries in nearby Rutherglen.
