The Star Gold Coast has been officially recognised as one of the world’s best integrated resorts and
is in the running for a coveted prize at an awards night in Macau next week.Judges for the G2E Asia Awards – the official awards of Global Gaming Expo Asia 2019 – confirmed The Star Gold Coast as an elite tourism and entertainment destination by listing it as one of five contenders in a sought-after category.

Along with two properties from the Philippines and one each from Vietnam and Cambodia, The Star Gold Coast is a finalist for the best integrated resort in Asia, outside Macau and Singapore.
The winner will be announced at a lavish black-tie dinner in Macau on May 21, with The Star Gold
Coast the only Australian integrated resort nominated for an award.

“It’s wonderful recognition for the transformative investments we’ve made over the last few years,”
said The Star Entertainment Group Managing Director & CEO, Matt Bekier.

“There can be no doubt The Star Gold Coast is now a world-class integrated resort, and a global
tourism destination of which the city and Queensland more broadly can be justifiably proud.
“The Star Grand hotel was completely refurbished. We built and opened The Darling hotel, a
luxurious all-suite hotel of unprecedented quality. Add award-winning dining experiences and The
Star Gold Coast is making a statement – and Asia is listening.”

Mr Bekier said the G2E Asia Awards, co-organised by industry publication Inside Asian Gaming, had acknowledged The Star Gold Coast in its existing form – without factoring in the $2 billion-plus masterplan investment which would take the property to an even higher level.

“The Dorsett hotel tower, under construction and due for completion in 2022, will bring to the Gold
Coast an international brand that resonates powerfully in Asia,” he said.

“The Dorsett tower development will include further world-class resort amenities for The Star Gold
Coast and will coincide with the inclusion of additional quality dining offerings.

“We have also announced plans for a further five-star hotel tower which could start works next year.

Again, it will mean more dining experiences, more world class resort facilities, as well as a nightclub and other potential tourism attractions.

“Our masterplan, fully-approved by Government, envisages another three towers. So, five in all,
alongside the existing The Star Grand and The Darling.

“While The Star Gold Coast has already been acknowledged with this award nomination as a worldclass integrated resort, imagine how it will be viewed across Asia and the rest of the globe if we roll out the masterplan in full.”

The Star has maintained a consistent stance that market and competitor conditions will be a
consideration at each stage of the masterplan.
