The Star Sydney shone at the highly regarded Tourism Accommodation Australia NSW Awards for Excellence 2019 held at The Star Event Centre last week.

Nominated across 15 categories, The Star has been recognised by Tourism Accommodation Australia for achieving excellence in the areas of food and beverage, hotel, conference and event facilities and guest services.

Included among the prestigious accolades, The Darling was awarded ‘Best Deluxe Hotel of the year’ for its uncompromising commitment to luxury.

The Star also picked up the top award in the following categories:

• Best Innovation Project – The Darling Hotel

• Revenue / Yield talent of the year – Elaine Fernandez

Chief Operating Officer Damian Quayle attributes the wins to The Star’s talented workforce that strive for excellence in all areas of the business.

“Winning three awards and being nominated for fifteen awards is an outstanding achievement, and one that the whole team can be proud of,” he said.

“We are consistently working towards creative and unique ways to elevate the guest experience at The Star, and it is pleasing to see that our ongoing commitment to innovation and luxury has been recognised at industry level.

“We strive for The Darling to be our guests’ home away from home with an added layer of luxury, and for them to feel welcome as soon as they set foot here.

“We are thrilled to receive this significant status from Tourism Accommodation Australia and look forward to continuing to put The Darling on the global map as the place to stay in Sydney.”

Last night’s wins for The Darling joins a number of other accomplishments for the fine establishment, including a Forbes Five-Star rating – the most coveted award in global luxury travel and a title which it has achieved for three consecutive years. The Darling also won the ‘Luxury Accommodation of the year’ award at the Tourism Accommodation Australia Awards in 2017.

Following the launch of The Star’s single-use plastics reduction pledge in March 2019, The Darling was also awarded for its ongoing commitment to creating a world-class, sustainable and liveable city in the ‘Best Innovation Project’ category.

The award recognised The Star’s approach to working with suppliers and manufacturers to test and create new sustainably sourced cutlery and restaurant supplies that deliver on exceptional guest experiences whilst setting new industry benchmarks.

The Star also received highly commended recognition in the ‘Food and Beverage talent of the year’ and ‘Health Club and Spa Facilities of the year’ categories.

Recognised as the most prestigious hospitality and tourism awards, the TAA NSW Awards for Excellence ceremony honours the achievement of excellence in a range of categories in the accommodation industry.
