The World’s First Distilled Non-Alcoholic Spirits Launches in Hong Kong

February 2, 2018 Beverage No Comments Email Email

SEEDLIP is the world’s first distilled non-alcoholic spirit, solving the ever-growing dilemma of ‘what to drink when you’re Not drinking®’.   Launched to great acclaim in November 2015, Seedlip was an immediate sell-out in London’s Selfridges and is now served in over 15 international cities, 100 Michelin* restaurants including The Fat Duck and Eleven Madison Park as well as the world’s top cocktail bars including The Dead Rabbit, Dandelyan, Baxter Inn and The Savoy. Hot off this great global success, Seedlip will launch in Hong Kong this March, much to the delight of the city’s bartenders and industry experts. The public will also be introduced to the brand’s complex mixes at Taste of Hong Kong, where they can be found throughout the festival.

Blended and bottled in England, Seedlip has created a coveted bespoke maceration, copper pot distillation and filtration process for each individual botanical that takes 6 weeks. Seedlip’s spirits boast zero calories, are sugar-free, sweetener-free and artificial flavour-free, making a Seedlip & Tonic the credible adult alternative to alcohol if not drinking.

Available in two expressions, Seedlip Garden 108 captures the essence of the English countryside with sophisticated top notes of the handpicked peas and hay from the founder’s family farm with a complex herbal base character of spearmint, rosemary & thyme. Seedlip Spice 94 is aromatic with strong spice (All Spice Berries & Cardamom) & citrus (lemon & grapefruit peel) top notes & a long bitter from the highest quality barks (Oak & Cascarilla) Both spirits are best served with tonic or as the base for martini or sour style non-alcoholic cocktails.

Seedlip was founded by Ben Branson in his kitchen in the woods with a small copper still & a copy of The Art of Distillation written in 1651 which documented apothecaries’ distilled non-alcoholic herbal remedies.

Ben Branson says: “My family’s 300-year farming heritage coupled with a career working on drinks brands laid the foundations to spend two years working with distillers, growers & historians to create adult, complex drinks when, for whatever reason, you’re not drinking alcohol. The response from both the trade & consumers has been overwhelming & we are both proud & humbled to be championed by the world’s food & drink pioneers. Exciting times!”

Hong Kong’s cocktail lovers will be able to experience these complex mixes first hand at Taste of Hong Kong. The Seedlip team will be crafting cocktails and leading master classes throughout the four-day festival from 22 to 25 March, along with founder Ben Branson.

Following on from last year’s World’s 50 Best Bars 2017, where Seedlip launched the world’s first NOgroni, the brand will attend Asia’s 50 Best Bar Awards as the official sponsor and partner this year. A Seedlip Bar will be at the annual awards event, further introducing industry experts to the world’s first luxury distilled non-alcoholic spirits. This is a continuation of Seedlip’s extensive list of industry achievements, including winning an award for ‘Best Emerging Brand’ at the British Luxury Awards 2017, and ‘Best Launch’ in The Drinks Business and winning gold at the Chelsea Flower Show 2016.
