A long weekend of fun, food and wine is on the cards as Flinders Ranges’ Ikara Safari Camp joins forces with the Barossa Valley’s popular Tomfoolery Winemakers for the property’s second Gourmet Weekend event.

The Gourmet Weekend includes two nights’ ‘glamping’ at Ikara Safari Camp, guided tours of the Flinders Ranges, dining on local South Australian produce and tastings of Tomfoolery wines, best-known for its small batch production, single vineyard wines.

Tomfoolery winemakers and best mates Ben Chipman and Toby Yap will cohost the weekend, bringing to the table some of their best drops, from the Trouble and Strife Cabernet France Rose to the Artful Dodger Shiraz.

Dates for the Ikara Gourmet Weekend are June 14-16, 2019.

Part of the Wilpena Pound Resort, Ikara’s Gourmet Weekend kicks off with a Sunset Tour led by one of the resort’s local Indigenous Adnyamathanha guides. Guests travel to a remarkable vantage point to view the vast Flinders Ranges and experience the magic of Wilpena Pound.  As the sun sets, their guide will share the country’s Indigenous stories while guests enjoy canapes and Tomfoolery wines.

The Gourmet Winemakers Dinner on Saturday night offers a fun group dinner in Ikara’s new dining tent, with a five-course dinner created by Ikara’s Head Chef featuring local South Australian produce and matched with Tomfoolery wines. Menu highlights include Smoked kangaroo roti paired with a 2018 Burla Negra Tempranillo, and a Wagyu beef & Blue fin toro matched with a 2015 Black Shiraz.

By day, guests can bushwalk along the Wilpena River, join a 4WD tour of the local gorges, take a scenic flight over the majestic Wilpena Pound, or simply kick back and relax in the luxury safari tents.

Ikara Safari Camp is located around 430km north of Adelaide in the Ikara Flinders Ranges National Park. Wilpena Pound is a spectacular natural amphitheatre spanning 17km in length and 7km in width, shaped by the weathering and uplifting of land over time and holding important cultural significance for the Indigenous Adnyamathanha people. The camp features 15 tented pavilions including two designed for families. Guests at Ikara Safari Camp stay close to nature but enjoy some of life’s luxuries including king beds, quality linens, side tables and lamps, luggage storage, contemporary ensuite bathroom and mini bar.

Rates for the Gourmet Weekend start at $499 per person twin share or $759 per person for solo travellers and includes two nights in a Luxury Safari Tent, five-course Gourmet Winemakers Dinner with matching Tomfoolery wines, Sunset Canapes Tour and daily breakfasts.
