Spread the love

If you are a parent, it is in your nature to always make sure that your child is happy. You give extra time and effort so that your child has everything that he needs. When it comes to birthday parties, you go all out by thinking of the most outrageous party themes that will make your child happy. However, when your child’s age reaches the double-digit mark, planning for a teen birthday party becomes more complicated.

When your child becomes a teen, his group of friends might change, and therefore, the guest list from previous birthday parties will change as well. If you are throwing large birthday parties before, your teenage child may want to have a smaller party with just close friends.

Here are some suggestions on how to throw a teen birthday party.

Pool party

If you have a pool or access to a pool, then have a pool party. Pool parties are more comfortable to plan since it will most probably just involve swimming and splashing. When planning a teen birthday party at a pool, it is recommended that adult supervision is always present. Teenagers may goof around the swimming pool, and sometimes their actions may cause harm to others. Provide other activities aside from swimming so that the party will not be monotonous to only swimming activities.

Sleepovers

Sleepovers are still a common theme for a teen birthday party. Your teenage child may want to have a party with just a small group of friends and hang out inside your home, play games, chill and chat with one another. When your teen has a sleepover party, make sure that it is not coed and provide enough food for them so that they can grab something to eat during the night.

Escape room

Treat your teen and his friends to an escape room party. Escape rooms put teenagers in a test to use their minds to solve clues and puzzles that will lead them to the key to escape the room. If your teen has a small group of friends, an escape room for a teen birthday party is a good idea.

Arcades

You can also plan a teen birthday party at an arcade. Treat your child and his friends to a day in an arcade. Give them tokens that they can use to play different games available in the arcade. Arcades have a lot of activities that you can enjoy with your teen and his friends. Challenge them to a set of bowling.

When planning a teen birthday party, it is essential to accept the fact that you may or may not be on the guest list. If your teen still wants you to be part of the teen birthday party, then that is all well and good. However, remember that it is during the teenage years when children get awkward because of puberty and maybe discovering new friends and interests. They may feel embarrassed when you still chaperone them during their birthday party. So if you do not make the party guest list, do not feel left out. That is just part of life. Let your teen go out with friends during birthdays, but make sure that your teen gets in contact with you at regular intervals.
