The number of passengers at Berlin’s airports in the first nine months of this year has risen. Between January and September 2019, 27,261,093 passengers passed through Schoenefeld and Tegel, 6.4 per cent more than in the same period of the previous year. This is shown by the provisional figures of the traffic report. The increase at Tegel is, again, especially large. By September, 18,466,875 passengers had taken off and landed there, 16 per cent more than in the first nine months of 2018. 8,794,218 passengers passed through Schoenefeld, 9.4 per cent fewer than in the previous year.

During September itself, the number of passengers fell slightly. In total, 3,266,592 passengers passed through Schoenefeld and Tegel, four per cent less than in September 2018. Tegel Airport counted 2,282,074 passengers, 0.7 per cent more than the same month the previous year. Schoenefeld counted 984,518 passengers, 13.4 per cent fewer than in September 2018.

In total, 25,703 planes took off and landed from both airports in September 2019. That was seven per cent fewer than in the same month the previous year. In Tegel, there were 17,440 take offs and landings (-2.8 per cent). In Schoenefeld, there were 8,263 take offs and landings (-14.6 per cent).

In total, 3,017,579 kilograms of air cargo was transported in the past month, 21.9 per cent less than in September 2018. 1,818,407 kg (-34.9 per cent) from Tegel and 1,199,172 kilograms (+11.9 per cent) from Schoenefeld.
