Mobile phone numbers, home postcodes and emails are now being captured for every passenger on all domestic flight bookings made through travel agents as part of the National Cabinet’s mandated COVID-19 mitigation and tracing measures.

Airlines have been required to capture this information since 1 October.

The Australian Federation of Travel Agents (AFTA) continues to work closely with Government, Health Authorities, Airlines and the International Air Transport Association to promote COVIDSafe Travel

Quotes attributable to AFTA CEO Darren Rudd
“AFTA has been working closely with the Department of Infrastructure, IATA, and Australia’s major airlines on a considered, responsible and safe resumption of travel. Central to this is the vital role that travel agents can play in COVIDSafe travel and instilling confidence in consumers that it is safe to do so.”

“Government recognises that a significant number of bookings are made through travel agents and has asked that all AFTA members help champion the cause of COVIDSafe Travel including through this mitigation measure. We, of course, are very happy to support this initiative.”

“AFTA and our members look forward to continuing to do what we can to get Australians moving safely both domestically and internationally as soon as possible.”
