Making a splash in Hong Kong’s scene with bright flavours and playful, unconventional food pairings, YUM CHA creates its own summer heat wave with an inspired seasonal menu celebrating the wondrous flavour of tea branch this summer.

Best known for their fun and artsy take on traditional Cantonese dim sum, YUM CHA’s summer menu features two steamer basket delights. A savory Steamed Shrimp and Longjing Tea Leaves Dumplings (3 pcs, HK$52) entices diners with a unique take on the much-loved “har gow” (shrimp dumpling). Green Tea Custard Molten Buns (3 pcs, HK$49) returns by popular demand, a sweet and delightful way to end lunch or dinner, thanks to the smile-inducing green “emoji” of the green tea bun.

Accompanying the dim sum offerings are an assortment of Chinese classics with a twist. Earl Grey Soft-Boiled Eggs (2 pcs, HK$69) amuse the eyes and palate as a starter, while the chic and bite-sized Deep-fried Black Pork in Roselle Sauce (HK$169) is a crowd-pleasing favourite. An extra special dish, Genmai & Seafood Rice in Green Tea Soup (HK$128), warms the soul with a mixture of crispy and white rice, braised in seafood soup with a hint of green tea. Exclusively available in Causeway Bay, Smoked Chicken with Tea Leaves (Half Bird, HK$169) introduces taste buds to the delicate smokiness, achieved with tea leaves.

Complementing the delectable selection of summer dim sum offerings is a revitalising array of drinks; designed with a delightful shimmering effect, made with sparkly edible glitter which meet the European food safety standards. Sample the Fruitful Jasmine (HK$45), a Jasmine Tea libation with quintessential Chinese fruit, lychee. East-meets-West in Earl Legend (HK$45), as the English staple of Earl Grey tea is paired with zesty lemons, elevating and refining the Hong Kong favourite iced lemon tea. Satiate one’s fun side with the sparkling Dancing Butterfly (HK$45), a naturally blue elixir, made with sweet, butterfly pea flower, and lychee soda; or enjoy Blue Ocean (HK$45), a fresh citrus drink made with blue curaçao, lemon, and mint. Made with natural ingredients inherent to Asia, from endemic fruits to tea, the irresistible guilt-free indulgences are sure to entice with their unique colours and flavour palates.

“We are pleased to introduce a new twist to some of the most well-known, classic dishes of Hong Kong to our Causeway Bay outlet,” shares Director & Deputy General Manager, Kenneth Ng. “At YUM CHA we aim to keep the integrity of the heritage of Hong Kong’s traditional cuisine alive, while ensuring that the food that is so ingrained in our city’s history is modernising, adapting, and evolving with the times.”

Since opening its doors in Central in 2015, YUM CHA has built a strong fan base of foodies. Renowned for its playful ‘instaworthy’ dim sum collections, YUM CHA has also built critical acclaim for its food under the Executive Chefs, Wilson Yip and KC Mak. YUM CHA has since expanded to four locations, including Tsim Sha Tsui, Mongkok, Central and Causeway Bay.

YUM CHA is perhaps one of the most widely known culinary phenomenons in Hong Kong. Literally meaning “drink tea”, it has become a frequent, if not, daily ritual where family, friends, and business associates get together to savour a table full of dim sums and other delights.

At YUM CHA, traditional Chinese dishes and dim sums are reinterpreted with a modern twist. Infused with boundless playfulness while maintaining authentic flavours and the original essence of each dish, all culinary creations at the restaurant uses fresh and quality ingredients with no MSG added.

The four restaurants offer exceptional cuisine in a vibrant East-meets-West atmosphere. The décor is reminiscent of a number of nostalgic Chinese dining traditions such as retro-modern serving utensils and birdcages, which brilliantly reflects YUM CHA’s identity as a pioneering Cantonese restaurant.

Hexagons are prevalent throughout the décor of YUM CHA as they symbolize balance and union – a place where families and friends can come to share delicious and balanced meals. The colours of grey and gold are key elements seen throughout the restaurant which exudes a classy yet contemporary feel while also featuring an open kitchen where diners can freely observe and interact with its chefs.
