The Travel Corporation NSW Sales Managers representing Trafalgar, Insight Vacations, Contiki, Busabout, Adventure World, AAT Kings and Uniworld Boutique River Cruises were proud to sponsor a day with Illawarra agent partners today at Green Connect.
Green Connect is a not-for-profit social enterprise based in the Illawarra that employs young people and former refugees to grow fair food and reduce waste to landfill. They run a farm and grow organic, free range food.
Their staff are offered training and personalised, wrap-around support. Many of the young people that they employ have never seen what it means to have and keep a job, due to high rates of intergenerational unemployment in the area.
Many of the former refugees they employ have never seen what it means to keep a job in Australia. Their training, support and paid work means that they get experience, income and learn what is expected by employers. They can try different things and make mistakes, and most will go on to secure meaningful, long term employment in areas they enjoy and are good at.
Our TTC NSW team felt that the mission of Green Connect aligned with that of The TreadRight Foundation, and two of three pillars being the People and Planet.
