TTM+ 2018 in Pattaya fulfilled all high expectations

In the official media briefing on the opening day of TTM+ 2018, held at the Ocean Marina Yacht Club in Chon Buri during June 13-15, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Deputy Governor Khun Tanet Petsuwan for the Marketing Communications revealed that Thailand had reached some 35 million tourist arrivals in 2017 with an increase of 8.7%. There is already an earnest over-crowding situation in the Kingdom, especially in tourist destinations like Phuket and Chiang Mai, so that it will be necessary to go for niche markets such as romance, weddings and honeymooners. After having the last two TTM+ events in Chiang Mai, Pattaya was chosen this year to host the event to enhance its status as a high-end destination with a romantic value for couples.

Some 1.1 million visitors came for romance, actually 104,090 visitors for weddings and 988,900 were honeymooners. In 2018, TAT expects to see a growth of 5% for the wedding and honeymoon segment. Moreover, the goal is to promote Thailand to be among the top five world destinations for newlyweds and honeymooners. TAT has already identified the following romantic destinations: Phuket, Koh Samui, Krabi, Chiang Mai, Pattaya, Trang, Trat, Hua Hin-Pran Buri and Chiang Rai, but not to forget Bangkok.

There are the so-called “5-D reasons” for celebrating weddings and honeymoons such as Destination Extraordinaire, Diverse Choices, Dream Hideaways, Delectable Tastes, and Distinct Hospitality. In the future strategy, TAT will focus on markets such as China, India, Hong Kong, Australia, America and Europe.

Reflecting the views of some 300 international buyers, TTM+ in Pattaya fulfilled all high expectations as the resort seems now becoming more and more a family destination. During the welcome reception in the evening of June 13 at the Cartoon Network Amazone Water Park, the delegates to TTM+ were treated to a range of gastronomic delights by celebrity chefs – just to single out Chef Luca Appino from Pizza Massilia among others. After many ups and downs, Pattaya with its surrounding areas really changed from a small fishing village into a famous beach resort town.

During the TTM+ two networking lunches, there were kindly served all kinds of delicious specialties such as seafood, Thai curries, pastas, salads, and also mangoes with sticky rice, but what was outstanding was a fruit stand from KP Garden in Chanthaburi. KP Garden is one of KP Grand Hotel’s Green Projects, where over 50 rai of fruit plantations can be visited. KP Garden abounds with plenty of local fruits, including rambutan, mangosteen, durian, longan and also fresh vegetables and herbs. With more than 200 pax capacity, KP Garden allows visitors to enjoy the scenery of Chanthaburi fruit garden as well as the taste of freshly hand-picked fruits from the trees. Moreover, visitors can also visiting a Royal Project, which is just 2 km away from KP Garden and not far away from Chanthaburi City.

All in all, TTM+ 2018 was such a very successful event, also gifted with nice weather, so that TTM+ 2019 will be in Pattaya again next year, but then under the theme of shopping.
