Kicking off on Tuesday 3 September 2019 at Melbourne Showgrounds, Global Table will welcome 2000 delegates from Australia and overseas, who are coming together for three days focused on the future of food and agriculture. The final agenda, featuring conference sessions, exhibitions, immersive installations, site visits, Teenovators, pitch competitions and more, is now live.

Australasia’s largest B2B event in food innovation, Global Table aims to tackle the challenges facing our food systems in a time of climate crisis by highlighting innovative solutions in the food and beverage, agriculture and technology industries.

68th US Secretary of State John F. Kerry, will present the inaugural keynote address on Tuesday morning, followed by Give Me 5!, a unique opportunity for a young entrepreneur or innovator to present their ideas to Secretary Kerry in a one-on-one.

Fellow keynote speakers Dr. Howard-Yana Shapiro, Chief Agricultural Officer of MARS Incorporated, and Shama Sukul Lee, Founder and CEO of Sunfed, will headline Wednesday and Thursday with keynote addresses.

Program highlights across the three days include:

Tuesday

  • Keynote address by Secretary Kerry which will include a fireside chat with Teenovators, Riley, Rebekah and Jennifer followed by Give Me 5! where Secretary Kerry meets one-on-one with a budding entrepreneur who will pitch their bright idea for food innovation
  • Panel sessions on tackling food waste and disrupting climate change, featuringDanielle Nierenberg, President of Food Tank, and Sarah Barker, Head of Climate Risk Governance at Minter Ellison
  • SnackFutures investor pitch hosted by Mondelez International in the arena – Mondelēz International’s SnackFutures innovation and venture hub is on a mission to create a snacking world that is good for people, kind to the planet and deliciously fun. This is the opportunity to hear the latest ideas from future-forward innovators and start-ups around the world to make that happen!  A select group of applicants will be invited to pitch their solutions to the SnackFutures team
  • Evolution of the retail market both online and in the store, sustainable packaging and the top five trends set to change the food industry, among the panels in the Trade Zone

Wednesday

  • Keynote address by Dr. Howard-Yana Shapiro, Chief Agricultural Officer of MARS Incorporated
  • Presentation of world-first research commissioned by Food Frontier through Deloitte Access Economics on the current and future value of Australia’s plant-based meat sector out to 2030
  • Panels asking the big questions, does government policy drive food innovation and are consumers buying into the plant-based meat revolution; who are they and why are they buying
  • Key speakers include Professor Paul Wood AO, Director Dairy Australia, Dr Sandro Demaio, Medical Doctor, Author and TV host of ABC’s Ask the Doctor, andGerardo Mazzeo, Global Innovation Director of Nestlé
  • Panel sessions on new breeding technologiesalternative proteins, andkickstarting the native Australian food industry Investor pitch contest hosted by FoodTech Accelerator  where the most promising startups will have the opportunity to pitch their solutions in front of the Foodtech Accelerator Team and partners, advisors, business angels, venture capitalists, corporate executives and media with deep foodtech expertise. The winner will directly advance to the final selection stage of the program!
  • Kickstarting businesses in the Chinese market and protecting brand IP

Thursday

  • Keynote address by Shama Sukul Lee, Founder and CEO of Sunfed
  • Panel sessions on the legalisation of medicinal cannabis, the future of hemp applications and food as medicine, and insects for food
  • Key speakers include Rose Wright, Director of Regionality and spokespeople fromMonash UniversityCSIROLaTrobe University and the Federal Department of Health
  • Investor pitch contest hosted by Beanstalk
  • Breaking down global markets in the Trade Zone, including where future opportunities lie for Australian businesses
  • Coles Meet the Team conference giving food and beverage businesses the chance to meet with Coles and discuss future opportunities with one of Australia’s largest retailers

More than 120 Australian food and beverage exporters will be showcasing their products in the Trade Zone, while the Innovation Precinct will present a chance for startups and innovative companies to showcase their solutions to tackling our food crisis. Topics for discussion include the future of snack food, what the retail store of tomorrow looks like and how Australian brands can leverage opportunities in emerging markets.
