TUI Group And Utrip Join Forces To Provide European Travelers A Personalized Trip Planning Experience

TUI Destination Services (Part of TUI Group) and Utrip, the data-driven travel planning platform that combines the best of local expertise, human experience and artificial intelligence, today announced the start of a new pilot program that will help travelers create highly personalized travel packages on the web, at the click of a button. The trip planning platform will leverage artificial intelligence to improve the overall customer experience by saving users time and providing them with more relevant recommendations.

The collaboration with Utrip is a result of the partnership from TUI Group with Californian accelerator Plug and Play.

TUI will test the new planning feature as part of an initiative to incorporate more personalization into the booking of their destination experiences, on the activities booking website for their English speaking customers ( Integrating Utrip’s technology into existing digital offerings will enable TUI to increase engagement with the company’s 20 million worldwide customers.

“Artificial intelligence is revolutionizing the travel industry today, yet consumers have come to expect a more personalized experience online,” said David Schelp, Managing Director of TUI DS. “We’re excited to combine our own inventory of unique destination experiences with Utrip’s artificial intelligence solution to provide our guests with the most personalized travel planning experience available today.”

To start, the destination discovery and trip planning portal will feature four destinations including New York City, Cancun, Tenerife and Punta Cana. Travelers will be able to use the platform to personalize excursions and activities around their own unique preferences, making it effortless for them to plan trips based on what matters most to them.

For travelers planning things to do during their vacations through TUI, the platform will enable them to rank their travel preferences across various categories, such as arts and culture, food, adventure and shopping. Utrip’s artificial intelligence will then sort through millions of potential combinations of TUI and non-TUI excursions, activities and restaurant recommendations to create a comprehensive, personalized itinerary. The pilot experience will be available to TUI customers in January 2018.
