Unique Latin America hosted a Peruvian dinner event at En Casa restaurant on October 3rd, inspiring travel agents from Sydney’s North Shore to learn more about off-the-beaten-track experiences in Peru and giving away one incredible major prize.

The group of 25 agents enjoyed a Peruvian 3-course dinner, Pisco Sour demonstrations, a live folkloric dance show, as well as guest presentations from Promperu tourism board and LATAM airlines.

Roslyn Burgess from Helloworld Lane Cove was lucky enough to walk away with the major prize for the evening. The prize included the 5-day Sacred Valley & Lares Adventure to Machu Picchu with Mountain Lodges of Peru, a luxurious 3-night cruise on the Delfin III with Delfin Amazon Cruises, an immersive 2-night eco-lodge experience at Refugio Amazonas with Rainforest Expeditions, as well as international and internal airfares, courtesy of LATAM.

The event took place at En Casa restaurant, with the esteemed head chef, Francisco ‘Pachi’ Rodriguez plating up classic Peruvian dishes especially for the group, including Ceviche, Causa and Lomo Saltado.

The final presentation was given by Rebeca Espinoza, Director of Unique Latin America. She urged agents to show their clients the ‘real Peru’, spotlighting some of the most authentic experiences available, from the Andean mountains to the Amazonian jungle. Being Peruvian herself, Rebeca was able to transmit her passion for Peru and in-depth product knowledge after almost five years representing her Peruvian clients.

However, this event was about more than just promoting destinations and products for Unique Latin America. The educational dinner was one of the first activities to embody Unique Latin America’s new agent-focussed strategy, to put travel agents first and show them that they are valued more than ever.

“Agents are always putting their customers first, so we wanted to put them first this time and show them just how valued they are at Unique Latin America,” said Rebeca Espinoza. “We know that agents get invited to a lot of events and this usually involves them having to travel into the city regardless of where they live and work. But with work and families, this can get exhausting, so we decided to bring Peru to them this time. We organised a smaller event outside of Sydney’s CBD and invited agents from the local area rather than expect them to travel far and wide to meet us in the CBD for a larger event. And the results were very encouraging.”

“We had a great turn-out and we received some very positive feedback from the attendees in our post-event surveys” commented Lisa Baddock, Marketing and Communications Coordinator at Unique Latin America. “The agents were very appreciative to have the event so close to home and many of them commented on the passion and knowledge of our presenters, something we were so pleased to hear.”

Rebeca added that “We also noticed that, because of the smaller numbers, the whole audience was very engaged and we were able to spend time chatting and getting to know these wonderful agents. I am really looking forward to bringing Peru to other parts of Sydney in the future.”
