On this route, travelers connect four fantastic destinations by car and luxury train on a memorable week-long adventure through the Mountain States of Utah and Colorado. Putting travelers in the driver’s seat of a full-size rental car, the journey begins with a self-drive tour through the scarlet landscape of Arches National Park, followed by a nighttime cruise on the Colorado River. With built in free time to explore the stunning surroundings of the greater Moab area. From here, the train segment of this vacation starts on the Rocky Mountaineer’s brand-new US route, highlighting the Colorado Rockies’ immense beauty as the train travels to Denver. Pausing for an overnight stay in the lovely resort town of Glenwood Springs, the train continues through desert and mountain landscapes, comprised of canyons valleys and verdant forests. Travelers have a half-day sightseeing excursion of the Mile High City as well as leisure time to explore Denver on their own, bringing this weeklong adventure to a close.

Smoky Mountain Rail Adventure

Starting in the national music capital of Nashville, this rail journey takes travelers through North Carolina and Tennessee, offering vistas of grandiose homes and cultural excursions in Nashville such as the country music performance, the Grand Ole Opry, the Country Music Hall of Fame and a tour of RCA studio B. Leaving Nashville aboard the Summerville Steam Special for a vintage steam train ride into Georgia, e ding at the historic train depot of Summerville. Next up is a segment of the trip on the Incline Railway on Lookout Mountain for breathtaking vistas, full of nature and Civil War history, before spending the night in the mountain top town of Pigeon Forge. Arrive at Great Smoky Mountains National Park on the sixth, day, a half-day tour followed by leisure time to take in the stunning nature and wildlife will keep travelers captivated all day. On day seven, travelers take a four-hour countryside steam train ride to Asheville North Carolina, where a tour of the Biltmore Estate (the country’s largest home) and free time to take in the tourist hot spot closed out the trip.

Rocky Mountaineer & Canyonlands National Park

The sheer majesty of the Colorado Rockies connects with the unique sandstone formations of Canyonlands National Park on this six-day vacation from Denver. Riding on the luxurious Rocky Mountaineer, which recently started service in the US, the journey kicks off in Denver with a tour through the sites of the foothills, including Red Rocks Amphitheater. Leaving Denver for Glenwood, travelers will enjoy the domed glass windows on the train cars, which provide views of mountains, waterways and lush forests as the train proceeds across the Continental Divide toward its destination. Canyons & Deserts featuring Sedona

Commencing with a full day to explore Las Vegas, the real adventure begins on day two with a drive out to Death Valley National Park, hitting all the main sites including the lowest point in North America, Badwater Basin. On day four, travelers’ journey to Owen’s Valley, surrounded by the Sierra Nevada, White and Inyo Mountains. Owen’s Vallet is also home to the Manzanar National Monument, commemorating America’s involvement in World War II and home to historic Japanese Internment Camps. With one last day of desert adventure in Sedona, a farewell dinner concludes this Old West trek before heading to Phoenix the next day for departure.

Alaska the Greatland
