The contributions of Vietjet to the Vietnamese aviation industry are undeniable. The success of Vietnam’s leading airline in terms of passenger numbers lies in the efforts of its talented and inspirational female leaders.

In honour of International Women’s Day, here are the four women at Vietjet who have excelled in male-dominated fields to become strong and inspiring leaders:

Chairwoman and CEO – the perfect duo

Madam Nguyen Thanh Ha, the Chairwoman of Vietjet and Madam Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, the President and CEO of Vietjet are two of the most well-known leaders of the airline. According to Associate Professor Dr. Tran Dinh Thien, former Director of the Vietnam Economic Institute, they are the “perfect duo” in taking the company to the top. They are the female leaders who are running a business smoothly with big thoughts and big acts in both domestic and foreign markets.

Nguyen Thanh Ha, the Chairwoman of Vietjet

Madam Nguyen Thanh Ha is one of Vietjet’s co-founders and was appointed as Chairwoman in 2007. She has extensive experience in the aviation industry in Vietnam. Prior to joining the Company, she held an important role as Deputy Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV).

Keeping a low profile in the public media, Madam Ha is a simple and gentle woman who has a strong passion for her career. She is the one who decided to put the national flag color and the five-pointed golden star as the symbol of Vietjet’s aircraft, following the tradition of her splendid military family.

Having extensive experience in the aviation industry in Vietnam, Madam Ha and all members of Vietjet’s board of management are determined to make Vietjet the pioneering airline that can bring in more flying opportunities for everyone and contribute to the development of Vietnam’s aviation industry. Madam Ha is also the Chairwoman of the Security Committee, the Human Resources Committee, and the Head of the Covid-19 Emergency Committee of Vietjet. The Chairwoman of Vietjet once said that “We believe in a better future in the sky, on the airplanes’ wings and we always strive to bring that future closer”.

The other woman who always stays alongside Madam Ha on Vietjet’s journey to conquer new skies is “Madam Thao”. That is a dear nickname given by colleagues and subordinates to Madam Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, President & CEO and Co-founder of Vietjet.

Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, President & CEO of Vietjet

Making her first a million dollars at the age of 21, President & CEO Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao is the first self-made female billionaire who set up an airline. To-date, she has also been featured in Forbes Magazine’s The World’s 100 Most Powerful Women List for four consecutive times and also holds the distinction of being Vietnam’s only representative.

However, the Hanoian woman always leaves a friendly and pleasant impression. Though she is one of the richest billionaires in Vietnam, her humble nature shines through. Because of her simplicity and sincerity, Madam Thao prefers to be called “sister”, rather than “Madam” by others.

Madam Thao is respected for her tireless working capacity, often working until 2 a.m. and waking up at 5 a.m. In a recent interview with the press, Madam Thao was asked, “What is a lot of money to you for?”, and she shared: “I make more money to realize big dreams and help more people!”

Madam Thao believes that women have the virtue of sacrifice, patience and resilience to overcome difficulties and achieve satisfaction in life.

Vice Presidents

Working side by side with the Vietjet’s Chairwoman and CEO are two talented and competent vice presidents: Madam Nguyen Thi Thuy Binh and Madam Ho Ngoc Yen Phuong.

Nguyen Thi Thuy Binh, the Vice President of Vietjet

Vice President Nguyen Thi Thuy Binh is a beautiful woman of Hanoi origin. She is in charge of Vietjet’s commercial development, market expansion and brand value development in the domestic and international markets. Madam Thuy Binh is also the Chairwoman of Vietjet Thailand – an associate airline established by Vietjet in Thailand.

Talking about the success of Vietjet, Vice President Thuy Binh revealed: “The difference and breakthrough of Vietjet is how we look at the market. Vietjet sees the market like a glass of water. We do not see what is already in there, but we see how much more can be poured into it. Of 100 million people, only 1% of Vietnamese use air transport, and technically we have a 99% untapped market for Vietjet”.

Ho Ngoc Yen Phuong, Vice President of Vietjet

Vice President Ho Ngoc Yen Phuong is in charge of one of the most important fields – Finance. Madam Yen Phuong has more than 20 years’ experience in finance, especially in regulating and managing capital, building financial-budget management systems, accounting management and internal audit.

Madam Yen Phuong, a beautiful woman of Hue origin, said that Vietjet people are energetic and persistent in pursuing their goals. They have passion for work and pride to bring in more flying opportunities for millions of people. “Vietjet will continue to conquer new skies, spreading dreams and beliefs into the future of the country and the people of Vietnam,” said Madam Yen Phuong.

The success of the four beautiful female generals has inspired every member of the company, with the pride of Vietjet. They aim to help many women rise to hold key positions in the company or succeed in positions in this male-dominated field. For making that success, Madam Phuong Thao said: “We inspire our staff to be honest and provide practical activities that help the community as a part of our corporate life”.
