Viking has been awarded Best Value for Money (luxury category) in Cruise Critic’s fourth annual Australian Editors’ Picks Awards.

The awards are selected by a global panel of impartial cruise experts from Cruise Critic, the world’s largest cruise reviews site and online cruise community, to highlight the best ocean, river and luxury cruise lines for Australian travellers across dozens of categories.

In ranking Viking in the top spot for the category, Cruise Critic’s Australian Managing Editor, Louise Goldsbury said: “A cruise on a Viking ship means rarely having to reach for your wallet once onboard. With included perks such as specialty dining, shore excursions and free access to the Nordic spa’s thalassotherapy pool, steam room and snow grotto, it’s easy to feel spoiled. Viking’s no nickel-and-diming policy means passengers know what they’re paying for upfront and appreciate the value of a cruise that includes excellent dining, large staterooms and friendly, intuitive service.”

Michelle Black, Viking’s Managing Director ANZ, said it was a great distinction to be awarded in the luxury category: “We’re honoured to be recognized by the experts at Cruise Critic. It’s incredibly rewarding to know that our guests and industry experts alike recognise the value of Viking’s inclusive offering.”

“I’d like to thank the Cruise Critic Australian editorial team for this award, as well as our guests for their continued support,” she concluded.

Viking’s inclusive value means that every cruise fare includes one complimentary shore excursion in each port of call; beer, wine and soft drinks served with lunch and dinner; free wi-fi; alternative restaurant dining at no extra charge; 24 hour room service and specialty coffee; access to Viking’s top-rated LivNordic spa facilities; self-service laundry as well as included gratuities.

Viking has become known as ‘The Thinking Person’s Cruise’ because voyages are destination focused, culturally enriching and carefully curated. Itineraries are developed with curious, experienced travellers in mind. Once onboard, every detail of Viking’s state-of-the-art small ships is designed to enhance and enrich the travel experience, so that guests can connect deeply to the destinations they visit.

The announcement from Cruise Critic builds on the impressive list of recent accolades for Viking, including Best Cabin Design in Cruise Passenger’s 2019 Reader’s Choice awards in Australia, and globally, readers of Travel + Leisure magazine voted Viking to the top of its categories in the 2019 World’s Best Awards for the fourth consecutive year. All six of Viking’s ocean ships have been awarded a top rating of five stars by Cruise Critic.
