Viking has released its 2022-2023 River Cruises brochure with over 230 pages packed full of bespoke itineraries and experiences exploring the unique culture and rich history of some of the world’s most fascinating destinations from Central Europe and Russia, to Egypt, Asia and the United States of America.  The brochure also includes a preview of 2023 season departures, details on new ships, a dedicated section on Christmas and Christmas Market cruises, and a new cruise destination; the Mississippi River.

The 2022-2023 River Cruises brochure showcases Viking’s first custom-built vessel in the United States, Viking Mississippi, debuting in August 2022 and sailing voyages on the Lower and Upper Mississippi, between New Orleans and St. Paul, bringing modern river cruising to the region.

A highlight itinerary is the new 15-day America’s Great River. Sailing nearly the entire length of the Mississippi River, this incredible journey from the Gulf of Mexico to the northernmost reaches of the United States showcases the southern charm and beautifully preserved homes in Natchez; retraces the steps of Civil Rights leaders in Memphis; ascends the Gateway Arch in St. Louis; and visits “The Norwegian Valley” in La Crosse. Priced from AUD$16,995pp, twin share.

The new 80-guest Viking Saigon is also featured with the Magnificent Mekong itinerary – a 15-day journey from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City exploring the cultural treasures of Vietnam and Cambodia with 16 guided tours. Hotel stays in Hanoi, Siem Reap and Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) bracket an eight-day Mekong River cruise on this unique cruise-tour itinerary, during which guests can enjoy shopping in Old Hanoi’s markets; exploring the Khmer temple complex of Angkor Wat; visiting Ta Prohm, where jungle vines embrace ancient ruins; and seeing the sights of Phnom Penh by cyclo rickshaw. Priced from $6,495pp, twin share.

Viking’s entire collection of Christmas cruises are also included featuring the new 10-day Christmas along the Elbe, and the 8-day Mississippi Holiday Season cruise.

Michelle Black, Viking’s Managing Director ANZ, said the new brochure is a positive sign of Viking’s confidence in both the market place and the future of cruise, and is a simple, easy to use touchpoint for agents to assist clients in choosing their next voyage.

“For the first time we have included two seasons in this new brochure – a full 2022 season and a preview of 2023, allowing agents and their guests to plan and book further ahead. This is a recognition both of what the market has been asking for and the demand we have been seeing,” she said.

“Significantly, this new brochure includes new destinations and ships, which in today’s climate is a major commitment and one which we are sure will generate considerable consumer and market interest.

“Our new Mississippi product in particular is one we are proud of. Cruising the Mississippi has been a long held dream of our Chairman, Torstein Hagen, and the launch of Viking Mississippi in 2022 will herald a new style of cruising on this mighty waterway”.

With a fleet of more than 70 ships sailing the rivers of Europe, Russia, Ukraine, Asia, Egypt and the US, Viking is the river cruise expert.  Known as ‘The Thinking Person’s Cruise’, Viking’s enrichment program features on board activities like lectures, roundtables and destination-inspired entertainment, as well as immersive on-shore experiences that take guests deep into local life and behind closed doors with its Privileged Access program.
