The Embassy of Tunisia and Visit Maghreb, an India and Tunisia-based DMC joined hands last week to organise a meet and greet event with 50 travel agents in Delhi to highlight the tourism potential of Tunisia for the Indian tourism market.

Jamel Boujdaria, Deputy Chief of Mission, First Counsellor, Embassy of Tunisia announced that : « Indian travellers for the purpose of tourism are now exempted from Tunisian visa process, provided that their certified travel documents are valid and accompanied by proof of accommodation. »

He also pointed out the variety of tourist offerings in Tunisia: Eco tourism, Resort tourism, Medical Tourism amongst others.

A representative of Turkish Airlines also present, said “There are daily flights from Delhi and Mumbai to Istanbul, well connected with the country, with over 2 flights per day from Istanbul to Tunis, the capital of Tunisia.”

Anouar HACHEMANE and Marion BLATRIX co-founders of Visit Maghreb highlighted the accessibility and different attractions available there, sharing a few attractive itineraries for Indian travellers.

Tunisia’s geographical location is key to its success for Indian travellers: a Mediterranean destination with more than 1000km coastline, with a rich history and a wide range of hotels at an economical price (from all-inclusive beach resorts, to luxury and boutique hotels).

Tunisia is also very well connected to the main European cities, with affordable flights, and can be a perfect add-on to a Eurotrip: 2 or 3 nights in Tunis and Hammamet, with excursions in the desert or visits to one of the UNESCO sites.

The highlights of the discussion:

– No Visa for Indian travellers;

-Wide range of hotels at economical prices: big resorts, luxury and boutique hotels ;

-A diverse range of tourist experiences: from Mediterranean beach & water activities

– To Sahara desert and oasis experience, as well as several UNESCO Heritage sites, thrilling nightlife on the coastal cities, Unique wellness experience of a Thalasso/spa therapy in one of the several coastal resorts, the paradise island of Djerba, which brings together all of the above experiences in one place.

-As a Mediterranean country, the climate in Tunisia is pleasant all year round, with higher temperatures during summer months (July, August, mid September).

Visit Maghreb is a DMC for Tunisia, and can offer the best packages for clients. Their presence in India allows them to offer itineraries and actives best suited for Indian travellers. As the representation agency for the destination, they can also provide training session and information about Tunisia to help you market it better to your clientele.
