Maldives Marketing and PR Corporation (MMPRC), the government body responsible for the promotion of Maldives as a tourist destination, commenced its Australian roadshow in Perth last night, welcoming travel trade representatives to an event at the Intercontinental Hotel.

The fully subscribed roadshow, which is the seventh event as part of the “Journey to the Sunny Side” campaign, will continue in Melbourne on the 25th, and finish in Sydney on the 27th September.

Over cocktails and canapes, travel trade representatives learned about the Maldives’ unique culture and customs, amazing atolls, magical marine life and exciting experiences beyond the bungalows. Along with product immersion, guests enjoyed presentations by senior executives from MMPRC and the chance to network with Maldivian resorts, marketing teams and tour groups including:

  • Villa Hotels & Resorts
  • Malahini Kuda Bandos
  • Maldives Getaways
  • Travel Connection Maldives
  • Voyages Maldives
  • Crown & Champa Resorts
  • Lux South Ari Atoll
  • The Residence Maldives
  • Centara Grand Island Resort
  • Bandon Maldives
  • Karusan Travels

At each event registered attendees can enter a business card draw for a chance to win trips to the Maldives, with generous prize packages donated by Paradise Island Resort, Royal Island Resort, Sun Island Resort, LUX* South Ari Atoll, LUX*North Male, Voyages Maldives, Meeru Island Resort, Vilamemdhoo Island Resort, and Residence Maldives. There is one major prize draw in each city, which includes an Economy Class return flight on Singapore Airlines. Singapore Airlines remains the fastest connecting flight route from Australia to Male, now flying 7 times weekly from Singapore.

“The local travel trade is incredibly important in helping us package and promote the four products of the Maldives which are resorts, guesthouses, liveaboards and hotels to Australian audiences. The Roadshow is designed to provide travel agents and advisors, tour operators, DMCs, and travel wholesalers with the tools they need to sell our tourism offering, and answer any questions they may have about the country face-to- face,” said MMPRC Managing Director, Thoyyib Mohamed.
