Visit Sunshine Coast (VSC) is offering free membership to its members for the next 12 months in response to the devastating impact of Covid-19 on tourism across the region.

New members looking to join VSC from the 2020/21 financial year will be able to do so at the discounted fee of $10.

Benefits of VSC membership include: promotion through VSC’s website and marketing campaigns, fortnightly industry newsletters, access to training and workshops, the opportunity to promote product through VSC’s Visitor Information Centres, involvement in trade familiarisation activities and media support.

VSC CEO Simon Latchford said VSC was committed to doing everything it could to support the tourism industry during its recovery.

“We want to make sure businesses can find a way back from these challenging times, and grow and prosper post COVID-19,” he said.

“It is clear we must take a ‘crawl, walk, run’ approach, and we will stand by our industry every step of the way.

“A membership with VSC is a way for tourism operators and local businesses to stay connected, remain up-to-date with important tourism news, get involved in co-operative destination marketing campaigns and forge working partnerships with fellow industry members.”

Mercure Sunshine Coast Kawana Waters General Manager and VSC member John Örning said he valued being part of the region’s tourism network.

“It is important, especially now, to have someone locally that advocates for the local tourism industry,” he said.

“As we have seen in the past few months, moving forward we will need to find new ways to adapt and support one another.

“Helping each other out is a really strong quality of the Sunshine Coast tourism community.”

New members are encouraged to sign up to VSC’s $10 ‘Tourism Essentials’ package at teamsunshinecoast.com/10.
