Explore the rugged landscapes of Newfoundland on a circumnavigating expedition of the Canadian island before travelling to the ‘polar bear capital of the world’, Churchill, to search for the majestic animals on a new fly, stay and cruise package released by Adventure Canada and Australian small ship specialist, Cruise Traveller.

The 22-night ‘Polar Bear and Canada Fair’ package this September includes a 10-night cruise circumnavigating Newfoundland, three-nights’ pre-cruise accommodation in Montreal and one in St John’s, a four-night Churchill Town and Tundra Adventurer package, as well as two-nights’ post-cruise accommodation in Toronto and two nights in Vancouver. The package includes free flights from Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane. This exclusive offer is only available if guests’ book before June 30, 2019.

Newfoundland is an island located off Canada’s east Atlantic Coast, similar in size to Ireland but with far less tourists. The remote destination is known for its Viking history, year-round whale sightings, remarkable hiking trails and the humour and hospitality of those who call this remote island home.

After spending three nights in Montreal, exploring at leisure, guests continue their journey with a flight to St John’s where they will embark on a 10-night circumnavigation of Newfoundland aboard Adventure Canada’s 198-passenger, eco-friendly vessel, the Ocean Endeavour. Highlights of the 10-night cruise include a traditional ‘Mikmaq’ welcome at Miawpukek First Nation Reserve and hiking at Gros Morne National Park, a geological phenomenon where the Earth’s mantle protrudes through the Earth’s crust. The itinerary also features  a visit to the restored, 1000-year-old, Norse Settlement of L’Anse aux Meadows – the earliest evidence of European presence in North America.

After returning to St John’s, guests will then fly to Toronto for two nights before flying to Churchill via Winnipeg. The small town, located on the western shore of Hudson Bay, is known as the polar bear capital of the world, due to the nearly 500 of the majestic animals that roam within range of the town each year. Guests will go on a tundra buggy adventure to search for the iconic polar bears in their natural environment. After returning to Winnipeg, guests will spend two nights in Vancouver before returning to Australia.

Departing Australia on September 28, 2019, the 22-night fly, stay and cruise package is available from $16,695 twin-share. The package includes four-nights pre-cruise accommodation, a 10-night Newfoundland circumnavigation cruise, two-nights post cruise accommodation, four-night Churchill Town and Tundra Adventurer tour package, two-nights’ accommodation in Vancouver, all shipboard meals and Zodiac excursions. The package also includes free flights from Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane if booked before June 30, 2019.
