Busselton Jetty took out the prestigious Sir David Brand Award for Tourism at the 2019 Perth Airport WA Tourism Awards, held on Saturday November 9, 2019.

The popular tourist attraction was recognised for its “continuous innovation and commitment to constant development”, after taking out gold in two other categories.

There was a record number of entries in the awards this year, with more than 150 Western Australia tourism businesses vying for gold, silver and bronze medals across 31 award categories.

Sandalford Wines, Beach House at Bayside, Crown College and Mandurah Crab Fest were inducted into the Hall of Fame, after each winning gold in their category consecutively over the past three years.

Tourism Minister Paul Papalia and Tourism WA chairman Nathan Harding each addressed attendees at the awards night, with Minister Papalia announcing the Hall of Fame inductees.

There were two Tourism WA-sponsored categories, including Major Tourist Attractions and Tourism Restaurants and Catering Services.

Busselton Jetty took out gold in the Major Tourist Attractions award, followed by Fremantle Prison (silver) and Rottnest Island (bronze).

In the category of Tourism Restaurants and Catering Services, The Lake House Denmark won gold, with Sandalford Wines placing silver and Odyssea City Beach receiving bronze.

The gold medallists in categories 1 to 25 will go on to represent WA at the

Qantas Australian Tourism Awards, held in Canberra on Friday March 6, 2020.
