Spread the love

At the moment, the world might seem a tiny bit more out of reach than it did only a few weeks ago, however, it is important to keep our travel dreams intact and the bucket list full with new ideas.

To inspire and motivate you, we have selected four fantastic walking holidays that will be perfect for an active escape this Autumn.

In addition, at CaminoWays.com, the walking experts, we are offering 10% OFF bookings in April and more flexibility with your travel dates.

CAMINO DE SANTIAGO – ALONG THE COAST

Most of you will already know there are many different Camino de Santiago routes, taking pilgrims from all corners of the world to Santiago de Compostela, in Galicia, North West of Spain. One of our favourites is the route that starts in the wonderful city of Porto, Northern Portugal, and heads towards Santiago following the Atlantic coast.

This great trail is known as the Portuguese Coastal Camino and you can walk the full route, some 260kms, in just 2 weeks, stopping in beautiful coastal towns such as Viana do Castelo and Baiona.

ROTA VICENTINA – FISHERMEN’S TRAIL IN PORTUGAL

If what you are looking for is spectacular coastal landscapes and tranquil walking tracks, the Fishermen’s Trail or Rota Vicentina, in Southern Portugal, is the one for you.

Superb cliffs, unspoilt beaches and tiny little fishing villages along the Rota Vicentina will make this walking holiday a real treat for all the senses. Nature lovers should bring their binoculars and walk all the way to Cape St Vincent, a hotspot for bird watching in the Autumn months when birds pass the Cape on their migration routes from Europe to Africa.

The full route is 192kms and can be completed in 10 days but shorter itineraries can also be arranged.

THE DINGLE WAY – IRELAND’S WILD WEST

Ireland has some incredible multi-day walking trails; one such trail is the Dingle Way, following the coast around the stunning Dingle Peninsula.

Locals might be friendly and chatty but it is easy to be lost for words in this part of the world, being surrounded by such pure beauty.

You will need 10 days to walk the full Dingle Peninsula but it is possible to do the shorter 4-night Kerry Camino from Tralee to Dingle (48kms).
