Besides beaches and blue water, Great Keppel Island has another GREAT attraction – Humpback Whales!

From July 2018, two whale watching tour operators are operating from off Yeppoon in the Southern Great Barrier Reef. This provides visitors with the chance to view the whales as they play in the warm waters off the Capricorn Coast.

With 33,000 whales expected to be travelling the East coast of Australia this season, visitors are sure to spot these gentle giants in Keppel Bay off the Capricorn Coast.

The two whale watch operators departing from Keppel Bay Marina, allow you to get amongst the whales, without needing to get amongst the crowds.

The intimate tours are the perfect way to truly appreciate these awe-inspiring mammals. Each cruise features expert commentary onboard, ensuring guests are also educated about whales and the local environment.

Keppel Konnections

Humpback Whales are the totem of the local aboriginal people of the Keppel Islands.  Keppel Konnections have an aboriginal guide on board to provide interpretive information for guests.

  • Operates Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday
  • Morning 11am – 2pm
  • Afternoon 3pm – 6pm

Departing from Keppel Bay Marina, Rosslyn Bay Harbour

Each tour lasts for three hours, with a light lunch included in the 11am service and sunset nibbles included in the 3pm service.
