During 2020, travel may not be exactly what it was, but this does not mean that there will not be sporting action that you can travel to see in the future. As a sports fan, there are plenty of great travel plans that you can make.

You can start looking forward to watching your favourite players now. Sport is getting back on track, as is travel. So, what can you look forward to seeing in the coming months and years?

Sporting preparations

Organisations like the Olympic Committee, and the online gaming and sports betting company Betway, are working to help people enjoy sports. This includes making plans for sporting events to be hosted and screened and for people to be able to enjoy the action in person, by watching on TV or placing a bet online.

Sports stars are also making sure that they are match fit, having been away from regular training for a while. This includes building on speed, endurance and mental strength, so that they are ready to take part in individual matches and whole tournaments.

So, with all this work going on, what top sporting events will you be able to travel to see?

Sporting events to plan for

Here are some of the biggest global sporting events you can think about travelling to in the future.

France – Rugby World Cup 2023

The next Rugby World Cup is due to take place in France in 2023. The year also marks the 200th anniversary of the creation of the game. If you cannot get tickets to attend the final of the event, at the Stade de France, you may want to take a trip to Paris anyway. After all, it’s a stunning destination and has the second highest most visitors for a city in Europe.

Italy – Ryder Cup 2022

If you are a fan of golf, this is one of the biggest events in the sporting calendar. The 44th Ryder Cup is scheduled to take place from 30 September to 2 October 2022, at Marco Simone Golf and Country Club in Guidonia Montecelio near Rome. If you want to spend some time watching top golfers, you can book a break in what is considered to be one of the most spectacular cities in the world.

India – ICC Cricket World Cup 2023

The 13th ICC Cricket World Cup is set to take place in India in 2023. This is the first time that the diverse country of India has hosted the entire event. It’s the perfect opportunity for you to watch some first-class cricket and get a taste of Asia at the same time.

United Kingdom – Wimbledon Tennis 2021

Wimbledon is the oldest tennis tournament in the world, so it’s a must for any fans of the sport. A trip to one of the most visited cities in the world also gives you an opportunity to see sights including Buckingham Palace and the Houses of Westminster.

Japan – Olympic Games 2021

The Olympic Games is one of the greatest spectaculars in the world. It should have taken place in Tokyo in 2020. However, the dates for the event have been changed to 23 July to 8 August 2021. Even for anyone who is not attending the event itself, it’s a great opportunity to experience Japanese culture first-hand.

As sports stars across the world build up their match fitness and look forward to competition, you can spend time thinking about the sporting events you want to travel to see.
