Helen Pearce from Victoria, thought it was a prank call when Trip.com called to inform her that she had won a prize in the recent competition “Win Flights For A Year” in partnership with Scoot.
She was thrilled to learn she had won twelve (12) x Economy “FlyBag” return tickets from Australia to any destination on a Scoot-operated flight, with an estimated total prize pool value of $9,999. With a flight booked on Trip.com, she entered, and never gave it another thought until she received the call.
We asked her what winning the prize meant to her, after she elected instead to share the joy, and take her trips with her husband or family members in tow.
Have you and your husband travelled/have you travelled much together?
“I’ve actually got the travel bug as I have got older. I now have a map of the world at my desk at home that I am marking with pins at places I have been.”
“I’ve been to Europe but never to Africa or to America. I have taken the kids to China, Vietnam, Fiji and Bali. Our most recent trip was Vanuatu.”
Where do you want to go, have you chosen any destinations?
“We are going to go to Berlin and Athens. My husband’s family are originally from Germany so we are going to use the flights to take his Mother back across to Germany to visit family as she hasn’t been since my husband’s Dad passed away several years ago. We also haven’t been to any countries down near Greece so we might be able to go there now for my husband’s birthday next year.”
“I am also thinking about doing a southeast Asia tour from Bangkok. Flying into Bangkok and working our way around to Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam. I’ve done quite of lot of travel now so happy to book it myself.”
“We also have a Japan trip already booked next year so I am looking at South Korea from there.”
How did you find out about the competition, were you Trip.com members already?
“I actually had booked a flight with Trip.com and received an email promoting the competition. I clicked through and entered.”
Will you be able to get time off work easily in the next year?
“My husband works so it is going to be a little tricky to plan it out. Not sure if I will be able to use them all!”
Where would they love Scoot to fly to that they don’t already?
“I think the coverage is pretty good actually, they go to a lot of the main spots but my daughter wants to go to South America so she said Peru.”
How much does winning the prize mean to you?
“I am so grateful we have won. I couldn’t believe we won, it’s just amazing.”
“I actually never win this stuff so I was asking ‘is this real?’ You hear of other people winning but I’ve never won anything.
