Woman says pat on head followed gross show on plane

June 8, 2018 Headline News No Comments Email Email

A woman who alleges the man sitting next to her on a long-haul flight watched porn and pleasured himself for hours on end, says the indecent performance ended only when the flight landed and the man got up, patted her on the head and told her he hoped she had “enjoyed the show”.

Southwest Airlines said in a statement it was looking into the alleged incident and had no further comment, the Dallas Morning News reported.

The female complainant says the man masturbated continually throughout the flight from Las Vegas to Philadelphia – a flight that lasts four hours and 45 minutes.

An odd aspect of the story is that the woman used Twitter in flight to detail her ordeal as it unfolded.

“Uhh @SouthwestAir we have an issue,” she wrote. “I’ve spent this entire flight sitting next to a guy who has his iPad open on the tray table, watching porn.

“It’s been a nearly 5-hour assault on ALL my senses.”

A Southwest representative tweeted back that the woman should alert a flight attendant. The victim then said she was stuck in a middle seat, with the masturbator seated in the window seat and a sleeping passenger in the aisle seat.

The woman said that at one stage the masturbator forcefully gripped her arm, intimidating her.

Southwest said it was “sorry that you had such an upsetting flight and encourage you to switch seats next time if you’re able”.

Indignant tweet from the US National Centre on Sexual Exploitation

Although several Twitter posts expressed scepticism over the woman’s claims, the US National Centre on Sexual Exploitation (NCOSE) took up the cause, tweeting: “Why did you, @SouthwestAir, not do more to stop the harassment of your passenger on a flight while man watched porn and masturbated? We should feel safe on your flights. What is your policy on porn-watching during flights?”

The woman on the flight said a Southwest supervisor eventually offered her a meal voucher for a free dinner, perhaps as some form of compensation.

This news sent NCOSE into overdrive. “Seriously @SouthwestAir??? All you do is offer a woman a ‘voucher for a free dinner’ after she is forced to sit next to a man who watched porn and masturbated during an ENTIRE 5 hour flight??”

Southwest is investigating.
