Award-winning Australia-based boutique food and wine tour operator, Silver Compass Tours has partnered with Hollywood scriptwriter and U.S. television development executive Katiedid Langrock of Write in the Wild to hold tailor-made storytelling retreats for writers in the “hidden” region of Ciociaria in central Italy.

The Write in the Wild Heart of Italy retreats will be hosted within a 1,000-year-old Benedictine monastery in the ancient mountaintop village of Veroli and have been designed specifically to coach writers working on their novels or screenplays to swerve around writer’s block and to unleash their stories with potency. The inaugural retreat will be held 10-16 May 2020.

While the Ciociaria region is only an hour south of Rome, it’s a whole world away and retreat participants will feel as if they have taken a magical step far back in time. The Write in the Wild Heart of Italy retreats are delivered as a very unique writing and cultural immersion experience – to not only get writing dreams kickstarted but to get writers connected to their inner authenticity and creative wildness.

Every morning during retreats, Katiedid Langrock will exclusively share her secrets to writing success by helping writers create their own unique and personalised writing process to form a genuine connection with their readers.

She will be taking retreat participants through a step-by-step process over a course of five workshops with the ultimate aim of ensuring writers leave the retreat inspired and equipped with the tools for a saleable story or manuscript. She will focus on:

–        structuring emotionally connective and wildly successful stories

–        creating characters that drive your stories and connect with your readers on an emotional level

–        bringing emotional truth into your stories through sensory stimulation (and banishing writer’s fatigue forever!)

–        holding space in your most important scenes and breathing life into your stories

The retreats also include a private one-hour personal feedback session with Katiedid, two additional bonus classes on keeping writing momentum going and successfully pitching your work, plus plenty of free time to wander around and write in a beautiful and wild Italian mountaintop village.

Explaining the Write in the Wild ethos, Katiedid says: “Write in the Wild embodies a holistic approach to writing and follows the philosophy that your greatest muse is your own inner wild self. We believe that by tapping into the true human experience, every scribe can construct a story that is healing for the writer and empowering for the reader — that by getting back into nature, you access your natural gifts. And we stand by the uncompromising belief that writing should be an enjoyable love affair with your own boundless imagination. To write is, and always should be, a most excellent adventure.”

A key feature of the Write in the Wild retreats are several sensory writing and cultural immersion tour experiences provided to participants as part of their retreat packages. This includes a half-day trip exploring stunning medieval frescoes with a private and guided art history tour and a day trip to the farthest corner of Ciociaria for a unique writing immersion experience in the Wild Heart of Italy at the 18th century villa where English novelist DH Lawrence completed “The Lost Girl” in 1919.

The inaugural Write in the Wild Heart of Italy storytelling writer’s retreat will be held 10-16 May 2020. Package is valued at US$3,497 per person, however an Earlybird Price of US$2,997 is available for reservations made before 30 November 2019. Places are limited to a maximum of 12 participants.

The retreat has been sponsored by First Draft, the world’s leading software for screenwriters, TV writers, playwrights & writers of all persuasions. Each Write in the Wild Heart of Italy retreat participants will receive a FREE digital download of the Final Draft screenwriting software [valued at US$249] as part of their all-inclusive writing workshops and tour package.
