Wyndham Destinations Asia Pacific has today opened its first Australian resorts to welcome travellers after most states eased COVID-19 restrictions on intrastate travel.

Fourteen properties are opening today at a reduced 50 per cent capacity initially to Australian-based members of Club Wyndham South Pacific, the region’s largest timeshare club with close to 60,000 members, and resort guests.

The resorts are managed by Wyndham Destinations Asia Pacific, which oversees a portfolio of 69 properties across Asia Pacific and Europe, and develops, markets and sells interests in Club Wyndham South Pacific.

“We closed all our resorts in the South Pacific once the restrictions surrounding COVID-19 came into effect, and we have used that down time to carry out refurbishments across our portfolio and bring forward a comprehensive deep cleaning program. We are excited to reopen today and share the many property enhancements we have made,” said Wyndham Destinations Asia Pacific Vice President Operations, Warren Cullum.

“The health and safety of our guests is our top priority so we have reworked our hygiene and cleanliness procedures to create the safest experience we can. We are using hospital-grade disinfectants, regularly cleaning high-touch areas, setting out our common spaces for social distancing, making hand sanitiser and disinfectant wipes more freely available for guests and much more.”

Behind the scenes, housekeeping protocols around the properties have been tightened, so staff are kept in the same pairs throughout the day to minimise contact between different people. They conduct a visual inspection of resort apartments first, remove all dirty material including linens and sheets, then work through apartments in zones, changing protective gloves and gear as they go.

“COVID-19 has changed some aspects of what we offer but our timeshare members and guests will enjoy the same personalised service they have always experienced. Our teams are looking forward to welcoming our guests back – we have been counting down the days,” said Mr Cullum.
