LUXE by EXO, the boutique luxury brand of EXO Travel, today announced an exclusive private sailing tour of the ‘art islands’, Naoshima, Teshima and Inujima, in Japan’s Seto Inland Sea.

The full-day Art Island Yachting Tour cruises the sapphire waters of Setouchi, mooring at each island for guided tours across landscapes strewn with striking Japanese and international art.

THE ‘ART OF ISLAND-HOPPING’ HIGHLIGHTS:

  • A sailing trip aboard a luxurious private yacht, with a maximum of six guests
  • A guided bicycle tour of Teshima’s art installations and museum
  • An authentic local lunch in a lively izakaya bar or at a seaside restaurant
  • An guided walking tour of artworks along the stunning coastlines of Inujima

This luxury sailing tour combines breathtaking nature with innovative modern art. Naoshima, Teshima and Inujima are renowned for hosting the internationally acclaimed Setouchi Triennale festival of contemporary art, and this exclusive LUXE by EXO experience provides guests with guided access to the islands’ permanent artworks.

The tour begins in Naoshima, the island at the centre of the festival’s exhibitions. It is here guests hop aboard their luxury vessel, enjoying a pampered journey across deep-blue seas to explore the lesser-visited isles of Teshima and Inujima.

Guests cycle around Teshima, a compact island where striking abstract forms juxtapose against the natural lines and hues of island and sea. Guided tours then uncover the creative treasures of Teshima Art Museum and Yokoo House, and other troves of world-class art.

Lunch is tailored to guests’ preferences, at either a vibrant izakaya pub or a seaside restaurant, before the yacht sails on to Inujima. There’s guests embark on a walking tour along the island’s spectacular coastlines, where works of art create surreal and immersive scenes. Guided visits of Inujima Seirensho Art Museum and Inujima Art House Project complete this unique luxury experience.

On the return journey, guests enjoy Champagne and canapes as they reflect on the day’s discoveries, sailing between lush mountains over Setouchi’s brilliant blue waters.

“This one-of-a-kind luxury tour is not just for art lovers,” says Director of LUXE by EXO Maeve Nolan. “It captivates from the first moment with the breathtaking natural landscapes of Setouchi, elevated by a luxurious yachting experience. Exploring the works of the world’s greatest contemporary artists is the icing on the cake. Everything about this tour was designed to wow.”
