Yorke Peninsula Tourism is pleased to announce the first stage of a program to support the tourism industry and operators with the release of the digital & interactive Yorke Peninsula Visitor Guide and online business advertising.Manager of Yorke Peninsula Tourism, Brooke Liebelt said “Whilst the Visitor Guide is normally produced in print form and accompanied by a digital version, the effect of the COVID-19 crisis meant that we needed to rethink our planning”.

“We were able to work with our publisher HWR Media & Communications to finalise digital content comprising of a digital version – a ‘flip book’ of the Yorke Peninsula Visitor Guide and banner advertising on our regional tourism website, www.yorkepeninsula.com.au”.

Ms Liebelt added “All banner advertising is linked to the operators website or social media platforms, meaning that a customer can click-through directly to that operator, and we would encourage businesses to ensure they have Google Analytics or other data collection methods set up to track the referrals made from the banner advertising to their business”.

Once further travel restrictions are eased and more businesses are able to recommence full operations, the Yorke Peninsula Visitor Guide will be updated to accommodate any changes or new businesses, and a printed guide will be available within the region and throughout the visitor information network in South Australia.

“In addition to the visitor guide, an A3 map will be produced with snapshots of information about Yorke Peninsula experiences, along with a list of operators and links for our website & social media platforms.  Both pieces of printed collateral have proved extremely popular with potential visitors to the region and those who are looking for something new or different to explore”, Ms Liebelt said.

“At the Adelaide and Melbourne Caravan & Camping Shows earlier this year, we distributed close to 2000 guides and maps from both dedicated Yorke Peninsula stands, even running out at the Melbourne event, with strong interest from many with genuine intention to travel”.

Yorke Peninsula Tourism plans to follow up the industry support through the next 12 months with a range of activities, including providing a platform for operators to submit and build a library of content for the region, enabling Yorke Peninsula Tourism to showcase and feature individual businesses through social media advertising and online content.

Ms Liebelt concluded, “It’s vitality important we support our tourism industry through the next 12 months and believe digital content is a way to not only promote our wonderful experiences and businesses, but also allows us to utilise our digital platforms more effectively and build our visual library”.

With the South Australian Roadmap to Recovery opening up regional travel, we welcome South Australians back and encourage them to explore our backyard and discover the hidden gems of Yorke Peninsula.  Just a 90-minute drive from the city, Yorke Peninsula is a close destination to Adelaide with diverse experiences for everyone to enjoy.
