The Federal Government’s announcement today of an additional $60million in funding for the Export Marketing Development Grants scheme (EMDG) over the next three years has been welcomed by the Australian Tourism Export Council (ATEC) today.http://www.stevecafeandcuisine.com/

“Many Australian tourism businesses have benefited from the EMDG program and ATEC has had an increase to its funding high on the agenda for several years,” ATEC Managing Director, Peter Shelley said.

“This is an important grant that helps tourism businesses to enter the international marketplace and it has been a critical part of the equation in helping to build what is now a $43 billion export industry. It has been well documented that the funding allocation for EMDG was exhausted, meaning many worthy applicants missed out, or grant recipients’ payments were heavily cut.

“Research tells us that the EMDG scheme has a net positive benefit to the economy, with every dollar invested returning an average of $20 in exports.

“Tourism SMEs across the country will be really encouraged to know that there is a greater investment from government to assist in penetrating new and emerging international markets”
