Moana Surfrider, A Westin Resort & Spa introduces a cool, new way to enjoy summer: a free, 8-week Summer School session at its stunning, oceanfront Beach Bar. Celebrate this glorious season with “Summer School” classes starting July 1 and running for eight weeks through August. Offered Mondays through Thursdays from 4:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m., the summer classes are free and open to the public.
“Summer School at the Beach Bar is all about fun. It’s a great place to make new friends and learn something new. And the best part is that there’s no test at the end of class – no Bar Exam!” says Ryan Loo, director of food & beverage of the Moana Surfrider.
The schedule of classes includes “Cocktails 101” with a resident mixologist who shows easy step-by-step instructions on how to make favorite Hawaiian cocktails such as the Moana Sunset Mai Tai. Other classes include “Ukulele Lessons” with Uncle Nate, “Hula & Hawaiian Storytelling” with a local dance instructor, and “Beer Tasting” with local beer company Honolulu Beerworks.
Refreshing cocktails and savory appetizers from the Beach Bar menu perfectly complement the summer school experience and are available for purchase. Guests are welcome to indulge in the many options served at the oceanfront bar. Menu options include the Blackened Spiced Chicken Wings; North Shore Garlic Shrimp; and for the vegetarian a Vegetarian Beyond Burger. A couple of new cocktails on the menu include the Moana Sunset Mai Tai – it comes with a souvenir cup and the Kula Strawberry Mojito – refreshing and perfect to enjoy while relaxing under the beautiful Banyan Tree.

The Beach Bar is open from 10:30 a.m. until 10:30 p.m. and sits under the historic and beautiful banyan tree. It recently reopened after a revitalization project that included new bar equipment, improving workflow in and around the popular bar.
