The 30th annual Outback Car Trek recently tackled some of Australia’s most iconic landscapes in support of the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS), with Helloworld Business Travel member Digby Warren, Director of The Journeymasters taking on the challenge for an incredible 10th time.
Alongside co-pilot Mike Wheatley, who has now driven all 30 Outback Treks, their car departed Renmark in the Barossa Valley on Monday 3rd June, with 11 days and 6,000 kilometres crossing some of Australia’s most iconic landscapes ahead of them.
The 2019 Outback Trek raised in excess of $1.5m for the RFDS, bringing the grand total over 30 years to almost $30 million. Funds raised through the 2019 event sponsors have supported the purchase of a new aircraft for the RFDS (pictured), adding to its fleet of crucial service aircraft providing extensive primary health care and emergency services over an area of 7.69 million square kilometres.
David Padman, General Manager Independent & Corporate Networks at Helloworld Travel congratulated Digby on his achievements and courage to take on such a challenge 10 years in a row.
