Coinciding with the resort’s 30 birthday celebrations, Fairmont Resort & Spa Blue Mountains has officially opened its highly anticipated Ubika Day Spa, making it one of the largest, purpose-built day spa facilities in Australia.

Officially opened by hotel owner, Dr Jerry Schwartz alongside his son, Dane, Trish Doyle, State MP for Blue Mountains, Scott O’Neile and Leigh Salas from Fairmont Resort, Simon McGrath, COO AccorHotels Pacific and Michael Issenberg, Chairman and CEO of AccorHotels Asia Pacific, the grand, two-storey Ubika Day Spa & Wellness Retreat boasts 16 treatment rooms – each with its own shower, and four couples rooms including one deluxe couples room with private spa bath. The day spa also features a Vichy Shower room, a Zen room to relax pre and post treatment in front of a fireplace, a yoga room, gymnasium and beauty salon.

Surrounded by natural beauty, the building has been designed to tie in with the surrounding World Heritage Listed site, with sandstone walkways, blackbutt detailing, water features, fishponds and an autumnal colour theme featured throughout.

Speaking at an exclusive dinner celebrating the resort’s 30th birthday, hotel owner Dr Jerry Schwartz, said “I feel very passionately about the Fairmont because it is not only located in one of the most spectacular natural settings, it is now back to its very best, a tourism landmark in the Blue Mountains.

“You just have to look out of the Fairmont across the Blue Mountains and you are seduced. In the seven years since we purchased it, many millions have been invested in a total renovation of the property as well as the installation of new facilities and services to provide the very best for couples, families and conference groups.

“Despite the difficult situation it was in when I purchased the hotel, from a business point of view I knew it had vast potential. It just needed vigour and drive. Facilities like the swimming pools, restaurants, reception and children’s facilities have all been significantly upgraded, and the launch of the Ubika Spa will cater for couples, parents and groups who want some extra indulgence”.

General Manger for Fairmont Resort Blue Mountains, Scott O’Neile, said “There is no doubt the Fairmont holds a lot of memories for a lot people. The level of investment that has gone into the resort to turn it into one of the country’s premium destinations is a credit to Jerry and we are all so pleased to be celebrating 30 years of this magnificent property.

“With the addition of the Ubika Day Spa, Fairmont Resort truly is a destination in its own right and we look forward to welcoming guests to the spa and showcasing the best of Blue Mountains hospitality”.

Multi-award winning Blue Mountains based organic spa brand, iKOU, has created a bespoke menu for the day spa which captures the essence of ‘retreat into nature’ through facials, body scrubs, cocoons and massage, with treatments specifically designed for pregnancy, men and couples.

Ubika Spa’s signature treatment is a 2-hour De-Stress Body & Mind Balance Ritual, which includes an Italian Orange and Australian Jojoba Body Scrub, a de-stress hot Stone massage and Pure Results calming facial and scalp massage, for $275.

To celebrate Fairmont Resort & Spa’s 30th anniversary, the hotel is offering two Ubika Spa opening offers:

  • Book any couples treatment and be upgraded to a Deluxe Couples Room.
