Memphis is renowned for its music scene, and even the current pandemic can’t hold the home of blues, soul and rock n’ roll back from playing its sweet, sweet sounds.

With Memphis undoubtedly at the forefront of virtual music gigs, this Saturday, 5th September 2020 at 10.30am (AEST) Memphis Tourism & I Love Memphis Blog will partner with The Levitt Shell Memphis, for a very special rebroadcast of the Stax Music Academy’s June 2018 concert.
The very special virtual rebroadcast of the Stax Music Academy’s June 2018 concert, will open with a fantastic introduction from Memphis musician “The Four” winner, Evvie McKinney, and include a Memphis attraction themed trivia component with giveaways.
The historic Levitt Shell is an open-air amphitheater located in Overton Park Memphis, and has hosted shows with famous musicians such as Elvis Presley. Each year (pre-Covid), the Levitt Shell would present more than 50 free concerts for locals and visitors alike, to enjoy. The Levitt Shell’s mission is building community through music and education, whilst finding common ground in diverse audiences.
This year however, the Levitt Shell will go virtual, and along with the re-broadcast of the Stax Music Academy’s June 2018 concert, there will be ongoing series of virtual gigs. These will see some of Levitt Shell’s and Memphis’ favourite artists showcase their talents – in a creative and socially distanced space, of course!
Those at home in Australia are able to watch the re-broadcast of the Stax Music Academy’s June 2018 concert, via the Levitt Shell Facebook page, found here.
Although we are unable to travel Memphis during this time to take in the city’s world-renowned music scene, those at home can rest assured knowing that they can do so, virtually. For further information about Memphis and all this city has to offer, visit: https://www.memphistravel.com/
