The Langham, Sydney is proud to bring live opera back to the city.
In association with Andrew McKinnon Presentations, The Langham, Sydney is hosting ‘King & Guy – A Weekend of Opera’ on Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th October 2020.
Sydney-siders and music lovers will have the opportunity to enjoy the live performance of Australia’s favourite bass baritone, Teddy Tahu Rhodes, and popular pianist, Guy Noble in an intimate setting at The Langham, Sydney’s number one boutique hotel in Australia.
Rhodes and Noble have performed in great opera houses all over the world; from New York’s Metropolitan Opera to the Hamburg State Opera.
“To be collaborating with The Langham, Sydney for this exclusive weekend performance is very exciting. We are looking forward to celebrate music with fine food and wine,” says Rhodes.
“I am looking forward to perform with my old friend Teddy Tahu and bring live music back to our fans and friends in Sydney,” adds Noble.
Accompanied by The Langham’s classic British Afternoon Tea with Wedgwood or a five-course degustation dinner, audiences will be serenaded with well-loved songs such as ‘Some Enchanted Evening’ and ‘The Impossible Dream’, popular arias by Rossini, Handel, Verdi and other great opera composers, a Gilbert and Sullivan hit, and much more.
The five-course degustation begins with a whiskey and beetroot cured Tasmanian salmon, followed by WA Fremantle octopus with a mandarin parfait, baby fennel, ruby grapefruit and a parsley essence. It then turns meaty with a delicious Southern Highlands lamb rack with Meredith goat cheese followed by Tajima Wagu beef cheek accompanied by gentleman’s relish and shallot tarte tatin. To finish, a decadent ‘Textures of Green’ dessert.
The vegetarian option is equally as mouth-watering, including a Warrigal green, green fig and Corella pear salad and a creamy wild mushroom risotto.
In keeping with social distancing and in adherence with the strict guidelines to ensure the health and safety of our guests, only a limited number of tickets are available for this springtime recital, one of the first live performances in Sydney.
