Condé Nast Traveler today announced the results of its annual Readers’ Choice Awards, with Royal Mansour Marrakech recognised as the #1 hotel in Africa. More than 715,000 Condé Nast Traveller readers submitted an incredible number of responses rating their travel experiences across the globe.

“The results of this year’s survey, conducted at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, are a testament to the lasting power of a meaningful travel experience,” said Jesse Ashlock, U.S. Editor of Condé Nast Traveler. “The winners represent the best of the best for our audience and offer plenty of trip-planning inspiration for all the adventures we can’t wait to have next.”

As commented by Mr Messant, General Manager of Royal Mansour Marrakech, “The news of this award has certainly come at the most apt time, when all of us hoteliers are looking forward to uplifting news! It’s an honour to rank as Africa’s top hotel by the industry’s most respected voice in luxury and experiential travel. This award is testament to the amazing dedication my team throw into ensuring Royal Mansour remains cutting edge across all aspects – including gastronomy, wellness and design- and through their warm and welcoming attitude to guests.  As soon as current restrictions lift, we are excited to welcome back our British friends!”

The iconic Royal Mansour Marrakechv is a magnificent showcase of traditional Moroccan craftmanship and design. The hotel feels wonderfully private, with its rooms set in 53 individual Riads with exquisite craftsmanship throughout and just a stone’s throw from the medina and a short distance from the Yves Saint Laurent museum. It has an exceptional spa which – amongst its myriad relaxing treatments – offers one of the best hammam experiences in the world.

Cuisine at Royal Mansour is led by three Michelin starred Yannick Alléno who creates delectable cuisine across three of the hotel’s four restaurants, from the sophisticated La Grande Table Marocaine which serves exquisite Moroccan flavours in its sumptuous setting, to poolside open-air restaurant Le Jardin whose menu includes light grilled dishes and sublime sushi. SESAMO is a new heart for the hotel opened at the end of last year – a wonderful Italian restaurant being headed up by Massimiliano Alajmo – the youngest chef in the world to have received three Michelin stars.

The Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards are the longest-running and most prestigious recognition of excellence in the travel industry and are commonly known as “the best of the best of travel.” The full list of winners can be found here.
